"I met a neat woman last week and profiled her on Newsedge Friday night to talk about a bold endeavor she's embarked upon. She's written a parenting book - but it's not just any book. So why in the world would this Seminole woman want to write a parenting book?"

For so long books about parenting have been written by professionals in the psychological field of medicine who usually do not have children of their own. Those books have put out so much bogus information, it's no wonder we have the society we have today. Thankfully, author Hein gives solid time-proven ways for parents to raise offspring.
Some of the things she talks about are that fathers and mothers have to establish rules and perimeters for youngsters to follow, say what they mean, especially in the case of punishment, and let them know when they have done something bad, then deal with it with sensible penalties.
She also shows that parents must be more involved in the education of their kids. Other things she talks about are that parents should have meetings with teachers, be more supportive of the school, and get involved in the child's studies at home.

"Thank you once again for sharing your parenting stories with us at the Region IV Hooked On Parenting Conference. You have a wonderful way of relating the joys and challenges of raising children, and how we as adults are being molded and shaped by the parenting process. My staff enjoyed your book and we will let you know when we are ready to order additional books to share with our parents. You are such a blessing and we want to be able to let our parents know that they are not alone in their parenting experiences."

Dear Lisa,
WOW!!!! I am a parent of an 11th grader and just came from the PTA meeting at which you were a guest speaker. I was unaware that you were going to be there, BUT, I'm absolutely blown away that you were. I truly believe that God puts in our lives what we need at that exact moment we should have it, and you were it!!!! You have lived my life, you told my story tonight. I cried the entire time you spoke.
Every detail was mine, from the husband I pushed away to the police coming to the house. I thought my situation was so unique and no one could ever understand what I was feeling or how much I loved my son and the heartache that leaves me exhausted. Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I know you we there tonight for me, so that I would know I'm not alone, or a failure or just plain crazy.
I'm a mom who loves her son more than life itself. I wanted to talk to you afterwards and did come to the table, but I was too embarrassed to speak in front of everyone there. E-mail is the next best thing.
I wish I would have been able to spend some time with you and find out how the story ends. I desperately want it to have a happy ending and hear you tell me that your son said , I'm so sorry mom for all the times I made you cry, I appreciate everything you tried to do to put me back on track, and I love you. Yes parenting in a hard job, but, I never thought it would be like this.
Thanks to you Lisa I know I'm not alone. It doesn't fix anything but it does in some weird way make me feel better.
Thank you for your story and God bless you!!! You will be in my prayers tonight.
Maria

“I wished it had been around when I was raising my teenager. I thought it was the ‘mac daddy’ of instructions of what to and not to do with my daughter. There was nothing like it when I was raising her. It was very easy to read and comprehend. It was an awesome book. Everyone that has kids should have a copy.” Mona K.

“I've always subconsciously believed that discipline was synonymous with punishment. THE BOOK was liberating in helping me understand that it's not about punishment, anger and shaming but about giving firm and loving correction and guidance.”

“Reading THE BOOK "I'm Doing the Best I Can" shows just how much a mother has had to go through, trying to raise a child to the best of her ability. Whether you can relate with her stories or not, you can appreciate how much love and devotion she has for her son. It will make you laugh and cry at the same time. At times, your heart goes out to her, and at other times, you respect her standing her ground. In a world that has so many different ideas for raising children, her insight hits the marks every time. It is well worth seeing what this incredible mother has to say! Diane K.

I wanted to thank you on my behalf and on behalf of the parents that attended your conference. I had so many parents thanking us at the school for bringing you. You gave all of us the strength and encouragement that we needed to continue raising our children with love but with firmness. One comment that you made stuck with all of us, and we keep reminding each other during some not so good days....."do not question or doubt yourself in your parenting skills." We, as parents, know what is best for our children and we need to stick with it.
Thank you so much for your support to all of us parents that once in a while need an affirmation.

"I appreciate Lisa's forthrightness shared from her personal parenting experience. In a day where parents are so busy keeping up with their responsibilities. Lisa's book reminds us that the greatest gift for our children is our undivided time and attention. Lisa also addresses setting boundaries by being a parent first and a friend thereafter. I believe her gift will help parents learn from her pain, preventing a few mistakes along the way."
